Iterative approaches for regional Moho determination using on-orbit gravity gradients: A case study in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and its near zone

Summary Moho determination is an important issue in studying the Earth’s interior structure. In accordance with isostasy-compensation hypothesis geodesy, it possible to recover regional or global by employing gravimetric data. The non-linear property one of main difficulties solving inverse problem isostasy. To effectively address this issue, we propose improved iterative inversion method that combines three-dimensional integration and linear regularization achieve approximate solution. estimate contributions different components gravity-gradient tensor from Gravity field steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE), other than vertical component, additionally develop two joint scenarios utilize diagonal horizontal all five non-vertical components. validating experiments are implemented Qinghai-Tibet Plateau its near zone. Simulations applications illustrate responses undulation also significant. Yet off-diagonal provide minimal contributions, adding only 0.25 km bias results. Truncation effects serve as primary source systematic errors, resulting ∼1 error results ∼2.3 Then, compared CRUST1.0, they show a generally strong correlation. Differences obvious at northern eastern margins plateau. It maybe due local changes crust-mantle density contrasts. Upwelling asthenospheric materials fluid flow middle-lower crust factors. Based on high-precision satellite gravimetry, our study could new insights into tectonic structure Plateau.
